Enric Roca i Vallet
Born in Cabrils (El Maresme- Spain).
He considers himself a pupil of Master Bilbeny. “I learned to learn, an attitude
that I have never left.”
He has graduated on egineering for the Universitat Politècnica de Barcelona. “A
tool to do things on good base, preserving the development of artistic sensibility”
He is founder and member of the Association of painters ART DIRECTE, dedicated
to artistic divulgation and cultural dinamitzation, through Art Shows (Mostres d’Art)
being held on public places in many locations, mainly in Catalunya.
He supports, as part of the Association ART DIRECTE activities, the iniciative Pintura Col·lectiva
(Colective Painting), consisting in the execution of a painting with the
cooperation of several artists at the same time, in a public place, having the
audience the opportunity to attend “live” to the creative process from the
blank canvas to the finished oeuvre, with the interaction of several members
of the group of painters trying to make compatible their personal stiles with
the shared painting.
Individually, he likes to work on
re-creating the railway
atmospheres. His deep knowledge of the art of perspective is
beautifully expressed in his paintings which convey the charm and magic
of lost steam trains and old railway
stations.
Also, the old Barcelona tramways captivated his painter’s eye together with urban
scenery. Barcelona being a city where Modernism (Art Nouveau) is very present, it soon became Roca’s
target, and he plunged into this style with the result of a rich range of chromatic
registers, from soft transparencies to the most expressive contrast of light and
colours.
